Traditional Meal Tour

Local home-cook meal exprience

Food has always been known to reveal cultural values of a country which could not be gained or recaptured from any types of exploration in a new exotic land. Through the home cooking at the house of the host, with the presence of the skillful cook (both are students as well), the Vietnamese secrets will be revealed: how we prepare fresh and high-quality ingredients, how our cook add flavors into dishes and how we decorate the most refining meal.

Traditional Meal Tour

Local market exprience with host

Learn from the indigenous people the way to cook a typical, traditional, delicious meal with healthy, nutritious dishes. Should you observe the processes of making them, from the meticulous preparation to the artful styles of cooking, you will be able to deduce how essential it is for Vietnamese family members to eat at home frequently, to enjoy the dishes full of efforts, hours of cooking and also, love.

Traditional Meal Tour

So-called cooking class in real family life.

The vision of the Traditional Meal Tour is to introduce the Vietnamese cuisine and Vietnamese family culture. Above all, the core idea is to convey the message of the importance of the family meal in such a country where the rate of developing is rapidly increasing, which consequently prevents the family members from having decent homemade meals with adequate nutrients that certainly cannot be found at ubiquitous fast food restaurants.

... The traditional meal tour started with 2 of the volunteers picking us up from our hotel .. we went to a local market and the volunteers showed us some of the traditional food. Upon return to the home, we helped roll spring rolls and enjoyed a nice meal with the mother and 4 volunteers. It was a great way to get advice on traveling throughout the country and exchange cultural information. Also, they prepared a special 'treat' for me - a duck embryo egg:-D ...
Overall, I definitely recommend taking a tour with this organization. They are enthusiastic and willing to do what it takes to try to create a memorable day for visitors to Saigon!

... the Traditional Meal tour, where we were picked up at our hotel by our tour wonderful and very friendly guide named Tu ... and taken to a private residence we were given the opportunity to go in the kitchen and help prepare our meal! One cook was Thuy, and our hostess was Linh who was joined by her spectacular mother who also spent much time making the incredible meal for us. We all participated in cooking the food ... and then we all sat as a family in their living room and ate the meal together. The family was so welcoming to us, and Linh even gave us a tour of their lovely home, explaining the things we were seeing. What an authentic Vietnamese evening we had over dinner, sharing and learning about each other's customs and lives. It was an evening in Saigon that we will never forget.
Thank you Hotpot for making our Saigon experience so AMAZING!!!!!!
